hello, on my training to be a spark, ive had the following books so far , trevor lisley level 2, on site guide, and have to get the brb soon as we've started looking at certain sections

i see there is loads of books out there and just would like to know any books you have found really usefull in your training.theres loads ou there so, thanks for your replys

The difference between GN3 and kitcher, with regard to testing, is that if you are a bit unsure is that kitcher's book will actually tell you in greater detail and show you with photos where to put probes etc. If you are getting a lot of practice in testing and are fairly confident GN3 is probs quite sufficient.

John whitfield, are the books i used also a good book for understanding domestic installs would be Alan Lynch, the Part P Doctor, second fix.
J.N.Hooper Intermediate Science and Theory.

maybe kitcher then hah, have you got a title??
HERE and that is a very good price. It will be a big help in testing at level 3 of the C&G 2330. You will need a copy of GN3 if you eventually go on to do the 2391 :)

edit : Kitcher also does 3 phase in detail which gn3 doesn't.

John Whitfield's "The Electricians guide to 17th Edition of IEE wiring Regs and Part P of the Building Regulations". Bit of a mouth full but contains some really usefull stuff. 17th Edition Regs book and On Site Guide are also musts. GN3 aswell if you fancy going on to do 2391.

Don't waste your money it's largely the same regurgitated stuff that appears in all his small book series. This series of books was very popular years ago when there few introductory texts on the market, but now it's 'chip paper' as there are plenty better offerings, including from Scaddan himself.
Check this out, it will be far more useful in your studies:
Electrical Installation Work, 6th Edition, Brian Scaddan, ISBN 978-0-7506-8733-1

A really good series of books for learners are from thomson learning www.thomsonlearning.co.uk from their electrical installation series
I used these a lot for the night class bods when I taught as it gives a lot of the background info that sadly is not picked up on generally on your apprenticeship.
It is very easy to follow as it is designed for self study
