It is just a convenient way of looking at the circuit from start to finish. I remember the guy who was training me came in while I was working and said "There is no neutral only phase now" I was a bit puzzled by that but I can accept the concept as much as the "idea" of neutral and Live along with Line and lives in the mix.
 
it's now gender neutral. can be either or.
