anybodys views,
bought one couple days back and first day fine, then trimmed some laminate flooring that had been laid a bit tight and both blades destroyed on a 20min job and at about ÂŁ20 pop hardly worth the purchase.

prob better to stick with trusty circular had same blade in for years

I bought one on impulse for a re-wire I’m currently doing. I’ve used it for cutting floor boards (T&G), and access points in solid chipboard floors in the loft. Does a really nice job, neat cuts, and easy to use, thou a little noisy! You do have to watch your depths with respect to pipes & cables in notched joists, but apart from that, a nice piece of kit. Shame they only do a 230v version.

They also do a 10.8Li-ion blue version Was going to buy one this month (c.ÂŁ180 with case accessories etc) but have just discovered hydraulic hole punches and they're not cheap! but very shiny!!

I have one and the blades are lasting well... 3 rewires since getting it and the circular is now redundant.

Think you were unlucky mate...

Im thinking of getting the 10.8v one as i already have some of that kit. If they are any good they look really usefull. the 10.8v wouldnt last long i know but i would only need it for short runs.
anyone got one?
what do you think of it?

how are the blades holding up - maybe i was unlucky

They seem to be doing fine. I've cut quite a few floorboard & access points, and the blade seems to be still going strong. I think you need to make sure you have the right blade, as from the leaflet included, there are different blades for different thickness and types of wood.

I was looking at the 10.8 blue version, but wasnt sure how long the batteries would last when cutting boards etc?

I got one a couple of months back and can't believe how much I use it. Really useful bit of kit.

But, I have gone through quite a few blades....... made worse by not paying enough attention on whether I've got the right blade fitted (B&Q were doing a 3 for 2 offer which covered the blades).

Use the right blade and don't overheat it and you'll be fine

Bought one a while back (PMF180E) and the more I use it the more I find out how handy it is. I have not been tempted by the cordless version though, aside from drills I can't see the point as the batteries all go duff sooner or later.

I've got the fein same blades. I find the biggest problem as mention before is overheating of the blades and melting them. I have found stroking the cut without using much pressure extends the life of blades :)

I have had a Bosch PMF 180E for a couple of years and would not be without it.
You can get the blades on ebay a bit cheaper than when the tool first come out from a seller called: hendr01d
Cheers Chris.

Bought one last week for cutting holes in skirting and floor boards. Overheating can be a problem if you are over eager with pressure. Let the tool do the work, and I find wiggling the cutter helps with plunge cuts. I killed blades on T&G floor boards when slicing the tongues. Too much grit. I then used old blades to shift the dirt before using a new one to cut the wood.

Good news on the Fein blades fitting, and will check out the e-bay seller now.
