I find that some are and some aren't.

They do loosen up over time with use (and add a little oil like you said), but if after a few months they are still fairly stiff then I would just change them.

The one stiff pair I had was bought from e-bay, I think thats the price you pay for using e-bay, not being able to test out the product first and the hassle of returning if they are not as expected. Perhaps pay the extra and nip to screwfix next time where you could test it out first.

to be honest hippy i have had the same issue with knipex from the same supplier.

long story short then sent the order out twice.

lucky they did as the second set of shears was good and the first set were bad.

bit of machine oil into the joint bit where handles interconnect does the magic.
once found a pair of rusty ck cable shears in the skip. wd40, cleaned up, then plenty of oil and they work like new.

you did remember to take them out of the packaging before first use ? lol because mine are great!
