hi all,

i'm tring to get into work as a mate with no luck, i have 2382 and 2377 plus level 3 in eal. everyone wants experience but i a new to the industry.

anyone any suggestions how to get work?

cheers

yeah have rang round local companies- i drive have my own tools.

i think it's a case of being persistant maybe things will get better in the new year!! or trying to get some upaid work

Maybe try emailing as many local companies as you can find. Include a CV and make sure you mention that you have transport and own tools. Maybe even offer to do a days work for free as a trial. Try local trade suppliers as they may know someone looking for someone like you? Look in newsagents windows for electricians advertising for work they may e worth contacting for a job. Drive round local area and find properties that are undergoing work and try and speak to trades there.
I am sure with a bit of lateral thinking you can come up with lots of potential contacts to try.
Have you tried in the For Sale Wanted section here?
Keep trying and I am sure you will succeed.
Good Luck

hi,
i only have very limited experience as i have been working 1 day a week for a local spark who i know to gain some experience. i currently work in a total different industry with 1 day off each week. i have been studying in my spare time for the last year and a half and attending practical assessments in my holidays.
my qualifications are
2382-10 level 3 in the requirements for electrical installations
2377-12 level 3 for the inspection and testing of electrical equipment
EAL level 2certificate for domestic installers part p compliant
i plan to do 2394/5 next summer once i have some more experience

thanks

ok, so you have the regs, PAT, and some domestic installers thing. At some point you would benefit from doing the technical certificate underpinning knowledge. In my opinion it would be better if you could get on the 2357.

Good luck.
