Now that things are getting back to normal, I'm getting back into visiting wildlife centres.

British Wildlife Centre in Lingfield, Surrey is well worth a visit. Small place with a focus on native species.

My favourite is always the Scottish Wild Cat - or in this case the Scottish FURIOUS cat:

Could well be as few as 35 left in the wild sadly, though there are efforts to reintroduce some from breeding programs this year apparently, so fingers crossed.

Red Squirrel enclosure is always pot luck. Nothing on the first walk through, then popped back right before leaving and bingo - just had time to point and shoot before he/she was off in the trees.

Foxes were a lot healthier (and lazier) looking than the ones round my bins!

I thought I was looking at pictures of my cat when I saw these pictures as she is the same colour with similar markings just wondering now if she is related to the scottish wild cat although she is a softy

They do have a habit of breeding with domestic cats - one of the reasons they are dying out- but not been any outside Scotland for a long time.

They definitely have lots of the same habits, but the tail is very different - shorter and bushier with black tip - and apparently they are absolutely impossible to tame.

We just got back from aviemore where we saw red squirrels. My mum said it was the first “live” one she ever saw…. In 75 year!

The greys are prevalent in the borders, and the only foxes we see are either raking in picnic area bins or are roadkill.

Speaking of which…. With my limited distance of driving yesterday, I saw 3 dead badgers on the roads…. And one quite healthy rabbit…. Sitting in the kerb, watching the traffic… look left, look right….

Didn’t know bunnies knew the green cross code
