Hi,

I am looking to purchase a new label printer, I notice that CEF had the Brother PT-E550 kit on sale, does anyone own one and can give an opinion?

I only do domestic wiring so it would be used for labelling CU's, cables and fused spurs etc.

Any opinions welcome.

you can get "unbranded" compatible tapes from the net, half price the genuine ones.

only alternative to brother is dymo, roughly the same prices and features.

In my opinion its an excellent printer for electricians. Its far easier to use when linking it to the "brother label tool" app. I think screwfix might have had a special offer on it, not sure if that is still in place.

i think that was last week and its ended was ÂŁ81 i think.. i had it saved in my basket and was still that price n Friday
but today its up to ÂŁ162

Denmans were giving them away when buying certain products (can't remember what) check out the current connector catalogue its in there somewhere

Highly recommended especially when used with the app IOS or Android
print your own custom safety labels etc print on shrink-wrap tube

bought mine 2014 After demo at Sandown Elex show
specialist tapes costly but if serious and professional cost should be allowed in to job price to produce a A class end Result:sorcerer:

I just purchased one at ÂŁ130 inc vat, looks a great bit of kit.

For those who've been using the Brother label printers for a few years, be aware that, unlike the PT-7600, the PT-E550 doesn't work with the original TZ tapes, only the TZe ones.

I wasn't planning on running two label printers until the assortment of old tape is used up. Grrr!

I also had the PT-7600 before upgrading the holes are different on the TZe I sold old brother and put towards new printer
Most manufactures tweak accessories or change consumables on upgrade +more ÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁ I am changing My W639 van this year and roof rails still fit W447 Sport X ;-) LoL

In memory of Mr.Kwok,i read this sentence in his voice...it sounded great...

...Also you are correct, the good quality TZe tapes are lovely and long-lasting,making even a cruddy accessory, look tidy.

I decorated up,all the plug-tops,whilst learning how mine worked,to save the missus from looking like a Carry-on film P.O.switch-board operator, when charging her phone :smile5:
