Evening all,

Just a quick one is BS6500 YYflex with pvc insulation suitable for running outdoors where there is no danger of mechanical damage?

Check with the manufacturers guidelines .... here Elands..YY Control Flexible Cable to BS6500 | Control Flexible Cables | Elan

I don't really understand this shift in using YY/SY/CY which are designed for use in industry as control wires been utilised and mis-sold as standard flex .... just use UV tolerant fle instead.

If you decide on YY it should have additional protection as recommended by the manufacturers.

Additional the best flex for you would be artic grade as this designed to withstand the extreme temperatures of winter...

Here's a BS breakdown of flex use.. check the Artic grade, hence my previous post it concerns me the number of people mis-using cable without a thought.. but at least you asked which is more than most do.
British Standard Cables - BS5467 Cable

As long as the existing wiring is approved for outdoor use and everything is working as planned then there is no need to replace the wiring.
