Still bored, got thinking as I sipped my 1st cuppa of the day, do any of the older members remember ever getting bullies at work? well there were about 6 Sparkies working for the firm I did my apprenticeship with, 1 really good one 4 OK ones and 1 little wazzock I got to work with.

Now I never minded the verbals and Micky takes, all part of the learning curve, but this little berk really was a nasty piece of work, used to thump me every so often, now not being one to go whinging to the boss, I spoke to my old man, he was a building QS, so he knew what was what on sites etc, told me if he did it again, promise, not threaten to smack him one, well next day it all kicked off, matey boy started shoving me around, and I promised the next time he touched me he would be eating his lunch through a straw, well he gave me one and I retaliated kicking him in his crown jewels, and he had the neck to report me for bullying him, we never worked together again, or spoke.

Anyone else got any horror stories? oh sorry for all these , do you remember threads, suppose they aer better that how do I wire up my mates shed lol,:wheelchair::54:a bit latter to early yet

But when I was young and you came out of your time it was natural to be indoctrinated on site tied to lampposts or worse

But on bullying slightly different but our boss when I did industrial was a right thick arse
He told an electrician to wire up some sockets 240 volt ones as 3 phase and the plugs also when the electrician refused he sacked the electrician
One of the higher ups decided to sack him when the higher up came back from holiday but on holiday he had a heart attack and died . So the boss just carried on then another higher up decided to put him on notice but he was transferred so our boss stayed but I left in the end

When i was an apprentice 20 sparks walked off one job over the treatment of an apprentice by a chargehand he was the worst i ever worked for, found out later he was notorious for it and why (his dad was worse and that's how he learnt ).I don't know if this would still happen today. You need strong confidant sparks who know they can't be replaced because they're damm good and who still give a crap about trainees. Today too many guys are scared of companies, the companies are using apprentices and trainees as cheap labour without giving the trade off (an education) and the unions are toothless so bullying has become a type of strong management

slowhand theres a few on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QY6V2syGnZA

and theres a member on here Lucien Nunes (i think) who has one as his avitar

Bullying physically is rarely carried out on aprentices at work:6: but the old favourites like the long stand etc metric adjustable are tryed out (think they are wiser these days or learn about it at college cos they dont work.
My favourite is to ask them to go and get a spare falopean tube.
OH and if taking there mobile off them is bullying then guilty because if you dont they are away with the fairies once they learn its for break times it allowed

God knows why? I opened dangleberries post and I wish I hadn’t now.

It’s not often you come across pure unadulterated gibberish.

most of the old guys i worked with were decent. couple not so.
one was notorious for playing to an audience and giving you total ****e in front of other trades.
this was stopped in its tracks when i put a belter right on his chin and sent him flat on his arse.
after that we got on fine and was actually a good lad to work with.
the gaffer was a wily old character who would manipulate you to get you to work neater ,harder and think for yourself without you even knowing, which i appreciate is some skill now.
