Hi, can someone help me understand if I would need a new bus bar or a new[ElectriciansForums.net] Bus bar advice board. The bus bar has a gap like it has been snapped or sawn off between the circuits on the right and left hand side. I have been advised by an electrician that a new board would have to be installed.
I would appreciate if someone could give me advice before the costly expense of replacing the board. I have attached a photo to give you a better idea.
Thanks

Perhaps show us a photo of the whole board.
And what electrical work are you having done that involves the consumer unit?

The second photo is partly obscured, but enough to see this is a typical Volex board, where the RCD circuits are on the RH side, and the bus bar has to be split to separate them. They are normally cut nicely, not looking like someone bent the busbar back & forth to snap it!

If the electrician thinks the busbars should be joined, then he hasn't got a clue what he is looking at!

However, that is not to say there are not other issues. Do you have the EICR that you can post, with any contact details redacted?
