j.g.-electrical

just wondering how old the crabtree c 50s are, and if the type is not on the side how do you determin the type.

You can also tell which is which by the colour of the markings on them, the earliest versions had white markings & the newer ones had yellow.

The white marking versions were 3ka rated.....you could also get them in RCBO versions.
Like all early DB's the C50 boards had no obvious means of sequencing the neutrals on the TPN versions, and inadequate earth terminals....

The ones over here mate are General Electric they all have that lovely stylized "GE" on the front

Is that what your using in your installations over there Malc?? If they are locally purchased for the Saudi market, then i would seriously advise you to check the type/model code and then check the time current characteristic, you maybe just a little surprised!! lol!!!

No mate I'm not using them I insist on ABB which are available. There are Merin Gerin but not always available and I have told the local MG agent that if he could prove a constant supply of them he would get our business, but as you know Colin things are not always easy out here.

My House as got the C50 in the nice GE board mate,

still prefered them to federal stablock! they were just plain deadly!

Took the lid off a Federal board years ago and more than half the breakers came with it

Though they are not as bad as Lupus DB's found one in a school not so long ago and refused to remove the cover I had some previous experience with these horrible boards and didn't want to repeat the experience
