I'm not proposing to set up an insulation company but there are opportunities out there. I'll have to wait until tomorrow to see the best course of action

Yes you can have PV but first we are going to rip out your windows and replace them with these A rated ones, change your boiler for this condensing one, insulate your loft with all this insulation as well as drilling holes in your wall to fill the cavity full and then and only then you might get a G rating and get 9p per kWh! Is that OK?

That is the reality I think.

Regardless on anything we need answers and we need them now! The future is bright but it isn't green from my perspective.

Barker's 'dream' for 22GW of PV by 2020 will require 2.65GW installed every year from where we are now. That would need 53MW installed per week (x 50 weeks). That's a little more than half the level of installs in w/e 4/12/11. And at £2/Wp would require householders to invest £5.3 billion a year.

Wonder where that is going to come from? The total current domestic PV installed (approx 800 MW) would have cost £3.2 billion at £4/Wp.

I just don't get the green deal, in theory you could buy an old house for 200k spend 30k on energy efficiency such as windows doors and insulated panels to the exterior remodelling the appearance, then an Estate agent will value the property at 240k you sell it for 240k, with the green deal loan of 30k. The new owner then will pay twice for the energy efficiency as they will have a loan of 30k under the green deal on top of the 240k purchase price.

If this is true then I've found a new business model !

I think I've sussed it!!
Barker will sponsor the big six energy firms to install solar farms, giving them generous grants for the privelage. They will then continue their effective monoploy of the energy market while Barker continues to cement his non executive directorship for when he finally gets kicked out of politics for his dubious behaviour and alleged law breaking.
SIMPLES!!!
rather suprised the rest of you cynics on here haven't suggested it already:welcome:

The buyer of the house has to be told that there is an outstanding £30k loan to pay back. That will affect how they view the value of the property.

Yep, reckon you have hit the nail on the head!

I'm staying positive- I was in this a long time before the FITS and I'll still be here in the future.

PV has taken over in the past year.

I'm actually looking forward to being able to sell other things.

Ye me to, do you want to buy a subaru or the missus as neither pay the bills.. boom to bust and soon, if the C rating comes in.
And don't forget the Green Deal - the big 6 get richer and the poor get poorer, small installers will be squeezed out as you need so many strings to your bow, so all you need to sell now is double glazing, cavity wall insulation, loft insulation and condensing boilers. Let's face it they are not leaving us in the best position in the world and do they care - NO.

Hopefully the industry for all of those people who care about it isn't dead, but let's face it we are in the hands of those who don't care.

Sounds very complicated for mortgage valuation ! It's so Cr4p, it's the problem with institutionalised government workers with no real life experience, they are living in a bubble ! It's just not how they think it is, might as well be in a socialist state, dictated by people who feather their own nests !

I see you are getting ahead of the game with the windows!!!
