Would not even code it, would not even give it a second thought. I would only c2 a missing screw if the lid was hanging off and then I would secure it with a self rapper if I couldn't get hold of the correct screw!

self rapper?

[ElectriciansForums.net] C2 code, really ??

Just to note here self tappers or rappers shouldn't be use as they present a sharp point inside that can pierce any conductor easily that falls in its way while fitting the lid, and screw/bolt with a flat base and not too long should be acceptable but yes even a self tapper doesn't warrant a C2 if its clear of all conductors.

Thanks all. Nice to have some productive comments!!

This muppet did find some real c2's, but he does only seems to find the head scratchers.

Many thanks all!

510.3 Every item of equipment shall be selected and erected so as to allow compliance with the regulations stated in this chapter and the relevant regulations in other parts of BS 7671 and shall take account of manufacturers’ instructions

it's the only reg I can find that may apply, find it loads on square d boards where those little screws are lost and people use 3" woodscrews. If you ask manufacturers I.e Schneider only their screws should be used buts that's no surprise!
