My electrician has put my 2.5mm and 10mm cable through conduit which is correct but then he has come down the wooden part of the wall and capped it with galvanised steel capping. My understanding is that galvanised capping can be used and is up to code but can he just fix the wire to the wooden beam like that and it be ok?

Do you have any particular reason to suspect that your electrician is not complying with the wiring regulations?

You would need to give us more details to be able to answer this, the answer will depend largely on the type of cable used and how exposed to likely damage it may or may not be.

You say conduit is correct but what type of conduit and what type of cable?
