What are peoples choice of cable? Personally i like Prysmian cable or eve LAP as its actually Prysmian but cheaper. I am not a big fan of Wickes cable due to iner cores sricking to outer PVC also not Doncaster Cable as the recent batches have too much powder

Doncaster has always had more powder than other brands in my view. Doesn't overly bother me though. TBH, I'll use whatever I can get or is close to hand. Prysmian is one of the better ones, I'll agree.

recent rewire i did after the plumber converted a bedroom to a bathroom. He had removed all the sockets and choccy blocked up the 2 legs but he spured off this to a socket downstairs in the hallway using old colour 1mm 3core but he connected the yellow cable to the earth under the floor and the bare earth at the socket

Think they sell PX Cables and its not too bad, although lately their prices have become similar to Prysmian.


Only rough stuff i've found lately is from either Atom Kablo or Atlas Kablo

I found exactly the same thing on a spur for a boiler. I wonder if it was done by the same bloke !!!

Prysmian, Eland, FS Cables, Draka, Pirelli, BICC, AEI and Nexans are quality brands all with BASEC approval.

Anything with basec approval will do. Prysman drums annoy the life out of me
