Hi,

Wondering what is the best and easiest way to chase cables in a domestic house thats is complete and with tenants in,

So there is furniture and the walls have been decorated so needing the best way to chase cables for a full rewire without causing alot of damage to the walls,

Board is by front door easy access to ceiling above but was mostly comcerned about the drops to light switches and sockets on the ground and first floor,

Is a 3 bed house with attic thanks.

There is no existing cable drops so would all have to start fresh,

Am ok with chasing downstairs as its just the drops, It is ok to chase through concrete / brick? as most of the walls are that,

My main concern is chasing the cables from the ground floor ceiling to the top ceiling, Is the best way to chase all the cables needed in 1 run and then disperse them once on the celing and under the boards?

Thanks.

If some of the switches are back to back say front room and rear dinning room do one chase bring both switch lines down one tube and drill through for the other room. Rent and good chasing tool and Vac from HSS.

Come up the stairs if there is a void go to the 1st floor two way, do one chase floor to ceiling and pull the feed straight through the back box then up into the loft. or through the cylinder cupboard if you don't fancy the extra chase.

Dont think I understand there,

What I am thinking from your post is from the ground floor ceiling do a chase from the celing to the switch then from the switch to the top ceiling going to the light, And then loop from the light to the next and so on? thanks for your help.

It was more to get the 1st flr lighting feed into the loft, go up in the stair case if it permits, get the feed up onto the landing then chase from the floor up to the 2 way light switch then chase as normal from the ceiling to the switch position, you then pull the feed straight through the back box without dropping to off then take it to the first light point in the loft:)

Ok I am ok with going to the loft when I get the feed to the second ceiling,

Right start fron beginning from the board to the ground floor ceiling is ok but to get from the ground floor ceiling to the first floor do I simply just make 1 chase from the bottom ceiling to the top? thanks

Thanks mate just what I wanted to hear just what I thought but was wanting to make sure would be correct way as more re wires I have done is new builds or referbished properties and has always been plastered after me thanks.

Quick tip- there is a way of doing an illegal wiring run, i.e. out of zone, less than 50 mill deep etc. That is to fit an electrical accessory into the wiring run, so the customer etc must expect that the wire is there. sink a back box in the run, fit a blank face plate to it. This then brings the wire in zone, and must of been installed as you would a normal wire.
My Inspector said this is fine, as long as the cable actually runs through the back box. Another weapon in yer armoury when re wiring difficult cottages !!
