A fence keeps the sheep / cows from causing shade, the fence should be X high for cows anbd therefore must be Y away from panels or the posts and rails / wire causes shading.

News on the DNO front. They have now admitted they think a voltage level of only 0.5V under their maximum is to close for comfort and that their monitoring equipment they used might not be calibrated? So another meeting with them coming up also.

Hey Guys

To take another point from the start of the thread, there is a comment about the system being ground mounted array. I am currently looking at a similar project and have heard issues about needed a fence around the array with minimum distance between fence and panels (2m??). This was general chat and if anyone has any info on requirements (I know- read DTI etc!) just to give me a bit of overview that would be great.
Andy

A fair rule of thumb for southern regions is distance from array no less than three times the height of fence (or cow!)

I've got a potential 4kw or thereabouts, 150m away from property which we looked at doing half and half ie having a small block built to house the inverter halfway up the hill and DC in 6/10mm 2c swa run through ducting buried to the hilltop ground mount works out a lot more cost effective than running 25/35mm AC only issue as i can see for us is the trenching through woodland on a very steep gradient and access for the customer to the inverter as He may be capable of climbing this hill now but 20 years later? ,although I think he will pay for the larger cable , to avoid these issues
Its a bit frustrating as he has the option of good sites closer to the property but his other half is'nt keen on being able to see it!
