Both these

Sorry if the qquestion is not to clear,
what i mean is how do you mark your cables i.e swicth wire etc ( i have seen some sparks put marks on cables to id them like 1 mark 2 marks a cross etc)
i was thinking is their a common standard used out their.
thanks
paul

OK get it now :D

I nick the sw wires sideways, slit up for feeds, cross for 2nd light etc but there isn't a standard it is a case of knowing what marks you make so that you can identify them later.

Marker pen and tape as Malcolm suggested when it gets complicated.

Ever had the grid switch loss of memory ...............was that 10 nicks or 11 .........eeekkk horrendous:teeth_smile:

i mark the feeds with 2 x's for in, 1 x for out, diagonal cut on switch wires, single slash on sw. out. anything else , guess.

Nick and slash, as in slash the insulation with a knife, as opposed to, you know what I mean.

Just remembered how it worked 1 - 4 were nicks, and 5 was a slash.

1 slash and 3 nicks was 8, 3 slashes and 4 nicks was 19, etc, etc.
