I just use a black sharpie and write "sw" or "sup" on the outer sheath.

Makes sense to me.

i mark the feeds with 2 x's for in, 1 x for out, diagonal cut on switch wires, single slash on sw. out. anything else , guess.

as above just without the guessing!! lol
2ways with 2 nics and a couple of diagonal to make a "W"
any heavier than that and the tape and pens come out.
