cable locater/finder

Anyone ever used one of these CABLE FINDER TONE PROBE TRACKER WIRE FINDER TRACER KIT on eBay (end time 19-Sep-10 09:10:30 BST)
are they any good? will they track a particular cable in a wall? or are there better alternatives - cheers

I had a Bosch one once......couldn't tell you where it is now though.

Says it all.
