another mind blank..


2.5mm cable on radial rated at 16A in DB powers 4 sockets in loft area, i have tapped off this supply into 1.5mm cable to power 5x 50 watt downlights, would you install a FCU rated at 3A for the lights or would you be happy leave the 16A MCB as protection..!

the 1.5mm cable is clipped direct to joists and does not come into contact with any insulation so de rating factor has little impact!
 
well then its really just up to yourself. Personally i dont like lighting circuits to be on more than a 10amp fuse. Just because switches can be replaced and they could only be 10amp rated instead of the 16amp needed
 
Ps......Label the fused spur if i'ts visible or note on the DB i'ts location if i'ts not......hidden and unlabelled fused spurs are a major time waster when a lamp takes out the fuse and you dont know they are there.
