Whats the jubilee clip used for malcolm?? never ever seen one used before, is it to ensure the armoured is scored round with the hacksaw in a perfect circle ??? Just a guess from a Yung Un

LoL

Nick

Spot on Nick. You fit the clip about an 1" above where you have removed the outer PVC sheath and then score the armour around the top lip of the clip. You then bend the armour strands back on to the clip until they break and you should have a complete circle with all the strands the same length.

It was just how I was taught to do it. I think it was a nearly fool proof way to get me to make a good end off with the strands all the same length, otherwise as an apprentice I dread to think what I would have been left with otherwise. I just still do it I suppose it's just auto pilot now.

how would you rate the electricians version of the plumbers pipe cutter or are they just the same????
pretty pants. very slow, bit useful if you are working in a tight space and can't get a hacksaw in.

Also good for cutting strands of cable armour, although I try to restrict their use to copper.
