I've come accross a few jobs where 2D light fittings control gear has gone (after only a month of being installed) and i noticed that the cable feeding them were larger then 1.5. On one it was wired in with really think flex that you'd normally use to wire in a 3KW storage heater. Just wondered if using thicker cable like this actually damages the control gear, being less resistence and there for more Amps. Apart from it being un-neccesarily large for the current needed.

Cheers

There is a saying "Size matters" but getting a lethal shock, not with electricity

Using thicker cable than is req would have no effect on the load at your fittings
It could be unhealthy workmanship wise trying to get oversized conductors into terminals and secured under cord grips etc it may also give a poor impression of the standard of work, but nothing that may cause your problem
