.... will see about more quotes

Always recommend if you get a quote, then to compare "apples with apples" you get the quote broken down into Mhrs at what rate they charge and a split of material costs. That way you can make a direct comparison and any big gotchas between quotes will be apparent!

antnony- quick couple of questions off topic!
1- if you are a heating engineer, why does your profile say handyman?
2- where exactly is notrh east? ;-)

I have been quoted to run 2.5mm twin and earth cable in trunking along a brick wall down the fence to the summer house, where he will just loop the cables to the items I want.
now I thought my way was better than what he said he could do, but clearly I was wrong
and the ÂŁ460 price quoted I thought was just silly, and to answer a question yes I would change my boiler as I am a heating engineer, will see about more quotes

If thats what has been quoted for bin the quote, and thats nothing to do with the price.....trunking outside is amatureish and will look awful. Get a quote from a reputable electrical contractor who will do it properly.....(And if you are a heating engineer you can bloody well afford it...)

I'm clueless aout the prices in the UK so I can't comment on the ÂŁ460 price quoted but I'd be inclined to agree that 2.5 twin in trunking isn't ideal and does sound like amateur night.

And I don't think you realise how trashed the industry is right now, with every Tom, Dick or Harry, builder Bob, Kev the kitchen fitter and Paul the plumber doing electrical work.

outa curiosity, does anyone know any bob the builders & keV the kitchen fitters or Paul the plumbers?

That quote just had to have been given by a electrical trainee!! lol!!

Get quotes from respectable electricians, preferably those that are personally recommended by trusted friends or relatives etc... Even If then you're unsure, always ask the person quoting, if he is a time served electrician and been in the industry for at least more than 5 years....

ÂŁ450 for some trunking job cheap?
maybe in some rich lands.
sorry, in wild east london you will be laughed at with that price.
