would think so. an IR from bath to MET, > 23k, then not extraneous. n'est pas?

Not having seen this installation, I can only use my imagination, but surely the supply cable is going to a cooker switch which is not, surely, above the cooker, but to one side?

In my mind's eye, I can't 'see' the cable being in any position to compromise it's integrity, especially as it's clipped direct. if there is enough heat to damage the cable, what else is being damaged?

If that is the case, then it's time to redesign the whole thing?

all boils down ( pun intended) to whether or not the heat isadversly affecting the cable. only the man on site can evaluate that.

A little harsh i thought.

I didnt mean to come across as harsh. I was only trying to say, that as he is the bloke on the ground, and knows the install, then the answers to his queries would probably be better answered from the regs. without knowing all the variables about the job, it would be difficult to say whether or not the bath needs bonding, or if his cable is up to taking the heat.

I apologise if i have put my size 9's in it again, and offended the OP.

Cheers..........Howard

It takes a big man ...........:yesnod:

Hi there,
Part Rewire of a 250 yr old property....beams and rafters, low ceilings everywhere!!
What are the regs.....if any, in regard to proximity of a cable (T+E) to a heat source. It's a rangemaster oven. The cable is clipped above the oven on the ceiling rafter. The kitchen has a low ceiling hence the question.
They are also installing a very nice copper bath. Would it be wise to bond this?
Dual RCD board.
TT Supply.
THANKS>

Question!!!! This clipped cable over oven is it one you have installed or is it one you are due to take out.

AA5 is considered the normal ambient temperature range of +5 to 40°C for external influence. If the ambient temperature at the cable exceeds 40°C you should consider the need for shielding of the cable (e.g. conduit or trunking) or one (or more) of the methods (or other equally effective method) listed in BS7671:2008, Amt 1:2011, 522.2.1 if you believe that the external influence will compromise the original design assumptions for the current carrying capacity of the cable or degrade its insulation.
Your correct but with regards to shielding from the heat but your examples of conduit or trunking would make the situe worse as you will reduce the cables ability to dissapate the inherited heat further still; hence the ccc of cables run in them is a lot less than of free air, both metal and plastic conduits and trunking will absorb the heat creating a heated air pocket inside, shielding would either have a very low thermal conduction rate or reflect it.
