Calculating current supplied to led drivers

Hi folks.
On the site I'm working, another company is fitting out a little gym with ---- loads of led's in the ceiling. The strips are 100 mm apart and cover the area of roughly 8 metres by 8 metres. They are divided into 3 rectangular grid like formation.
So here is where the numbers come in.
I'm not going to say my opinion yet as truly I'm not very sure of the answer. Their installer tells me that for one of those large rectangles the led's use 700 watts and at 24 volts ( from the driver) therefore 700÷24 = 29 amps!! So this guy wants me to give him 3 time this meaning 9 × 10 amp circuits.

This cannot be correct??

If it is 29 amps @ 24v it's only going to be a tenth of that on the 230v side, so 3 amps roughly!

The input current should be detailed on the fittings or drivers.

And don't forget to allow for the inrush

And a 700W LED source is going to be blindingly bright, check that it's correct.

Are you sure it's not a 700mA driver?

Just watch the start up current. We had an issue with a customer that had a new LED install where the switches had all failed. When we put a PA on it the startup was over 800amps!

Holy shhhmoke. 800 amps! What did you end up doing for the switching of thst ct then? Contactor?
Ya it is very bright but they are putting a large diffuser overy the whole thing otherwise you'd be walking out of there with a handsome tan!.
So so that 29 amps gets inversely change down to 3 amps on the incoming side then eh hmmm ?? interesting Mr bond

We know a guy that is a wizz with electronics, he custom designed a new driver that limited the inrush current.

you are right this is not correct 700 watts divided by 230 is 3.04 amps
