I shall refrain from trashing this nice thread by mentioning muffs ........... ear muffs or otherwise.

Diving is something I've never done and I haven't learned to swim either.

I like water to look at and to float on in a boat but don't like being in it which some may think is a bit odd as I'm a pi$$keys (March Birthday - mark your calendars now)

Dived off Croatia once - best one I've done. Saw an Octopus, Moray and Conga all in the same dive.

The bloke was well grumpy though - think it was because it was just me and him on his huge boat with 20 spaces!! He looked at me with disdain and said

"assemble your equipment"

I've only ever done one dive and that was with sharks. at a deep sea world.good few years ago now.
love swimming though.im also a lifeguard and used to be a lifeguard trainer.

One to one tuition ..... perfect!!

Yeah under water he was fine, with a mask on!

he got quite excited as we bumped into our bonanza of sights. Well, as excited as you can get using hand signals and a rattle

I had a rattle that I used to rattle with glee as I was being chauffeured about in my Silver Cross pram with the big shiny wheels. I think the two back ones were bigger than the front ones - a bit like a dragster.

Not one of those rattles!

think it was just a tin with some screws in. Sound of it travelled well under t'water, loike.

did all my (BSAC, not that silly 5day wonder PADI ) training in murky cold quarrie with a dry suit on...the instructor said once Id got through all this is in cold miserable low vis England my eyes would pop out on stalks when I got away anywhere and dived. He was right.

diving in the carribean without even a wetsuit was a novelty

Not dived for a good number years now but when I did Scapa Flow took some beating or a night dive in the harbour and along the breakwater at Port Erin I.O.M.

Did the underwater explosives courses at Bovisand back in the eighties some of the best and most intense weekends I've done and showed how precise you can be with a bit of geli

Did quite a few weekends and weeks out of Liverpool as one of the lads dad in the club I was in had a 72ft motor yacht and not long after bought a 100ft boat that we regularly used. Got out to Ireland and up to some of the Scottish islands and the Isle of Man

Fantastic UNG. It always struck me what a privilege it is to be in the serene quiet beautiful world, as we (humans) just aren't meant to be there 1/2 an hour at a time

Although I expect some high explosives livened it up

The by product of using explosives was that you got your dinner as we used to get a few stone of fish on the surface after the bang

A mate of mine who is a diver as well hired a mini sub when he went to Cayman about 20 years ago so he could get a look at the Kirk Pride I think that and a trip to Truk Lagoon could get me diving again

I don't get much chance to dive nowadays cause of the kids and other things. I only dive in England. The dive group go all over the world diving, but I don't have the money or want to be away from the kids for a long time. I usually dive in a couple of quarries near me. (Capernwray & Eccy Delph).

Ahh Eccy Delph the hand less corpse site!!!

Thats the one. Of course before it came a dive site. Apparently was also good for losing cars in.
Got a AA gun in there (along with lots of other things) that is a must to sit in each time I go diving.

It was recreational divers that found it one of the lads that found it was a mate of one of the lads of the club I was in talking to him about it when they found it they thought they had found a tailors dummy

Dived there from the early 80's when I first started as it was a good training dive site did one of my first dives under ice there also good for night dives and recovery exercises with lifting bags

I believe it's gone commercial now like Capernwray I find a lot of these sites loose something when they go this way

You are correct in that it was found by divers. Sorry, what I meant was, it was back in the days before the site became a commercial site with a shop and cafe and the likes.
Its still good to dive there. But I do prefere Capernwray
