Just been called out to a customer saying the hot water is luke warm at best and been like that a week now, so after asking a few questions over phone to save a trip I decided I needed to go out and check it out...

It was a simple set-up on inspection supply to a mechanical 2hr boost timer only then to the water tank element, it all tested ok nothing out of the ordinary but confirmed the water was luke warm after it had been on for 90mins, now I dont know why but although it could have been a few things like faulty stat etc --something niggled me, I asked if any females are on sight to they confusingly said no!, do you have womens toilets - 'Yes' was the reply so off I wondered and as soon as i opened the door I saw the hot water tap running half flow lol....

Embarrased was the guy to say the least and sorry he wasted my time, I said don't be as Im getting paid and its not me that has to explain to the boss why turning the hot tap off in the womens toilets cost ÂŁ60 ..... of course Ill edit the invoice to protect his arse but still funny thinking about it.

Used to look after student lets, called out for no heating one day, showed them the thermostat dial (in prominent position by kitchen door) which was set low. " We thought it was the dial to the house money safe". Another call was for snapped wc cistern handle, I explained I'd have to come back tomorrow morning with replacement, got screamed at, what are we gonna do with no toilet for the night. Liked the night storage story, can just see that happening.

Got called out at 2.00am in the morning to a so call disabled tenent of a housing association with no hot water. Apparently he wanted a bath in the middle of the night.

The fault was he had run out of hot water and the economy 7 had not kicked in untill just before I arrived.

Was not happy.

I was on call out about 8 years ago on a saturday, got called to a pub in swindon , the emergency lights were not working, got in and found the key switch..., someone had been testing the lights and forgot to switch them back on.

After I left to go home to Coventry, I got a call to a pub in Leicester, lights in bar not working, can't remember how many lights out, they were all lamps.

I was not happy that day

Got a call out to a flat because the couple thought the smoke alarm was making a continuos beeping noise put my ear up to both smokes no noise from them but I could still hear the noise, I said is your phone off the hook so he walks through to the bedroom comes back says no. I said you must have something in your pocket because the noise disappeared when he left the room he then realised it was his morphine pump he had strapped around his waste, it needed refilling, poor guy was embarrassed.

Poshspark, you have just reminded me of another one!

One of our engineers had a call to a posh riverside block of flats in london one eve, about 1am to the fire alarm ringing in the underground car park. He phoned the site concierge first and talked them through some basics to which they basically replied, the system is completely heathy and normal so our engineer said sod off, I'm going to bed.
Anyway, 9am rolls around and he's on the phone to me explaining (its one of my sites i look after). I know there is no sounders in the car park. Just call points so we just had a giggle about it and that was that. Later that day, my manager is on the phone saying i need to get down there because the alarms are ringing and the site staff are fuming. So, an hour later and I'm there, let into the car park by an angry concierge and i can hear a loud alarm...but not your usual warbling noise from a fire alarm. The angry concierge whilst shouting at me, insists walking me down the garage to a call point which is apparently causing this noise. As we walk down, it gets louder and louder until i get to this call point...which can't make any noise! I look everywhere for a sounder and just can't find something then it clicked. The call point was next to a old Maserati parked up. Put my ear to the bonnet and thats where the noise is coming from!
Turns out the car alarm had gone wrong!
At this point, the site manager was storming down the car park and started shouting at me that MY fire alarm system is a load of **** and always does this. Should of seen the look on his face when i pointed out it was the car alarm!

I replaced 9 LV spots with collingwood H2PRO in a kitchen about 6 months ago. Also had to replace 3 duff tubes for the under cupboard lights (which hadnt worked for years apparently). I had a call this week that 2 dont work. I pop over and switch the spots on and bingo they work, 3 gang switch, 1 does 7 spots, another the under cupboard lights and the third the last 2 'duff' spots (different part of the kitchen). Customer sheepishly says, 'o i am so used to only using 2 of those switches that I didnt think to try the 3rd'. WTF
