Can 2 x 16amp = 32amp Supply? | Page 2 | on ElectriciansForums

Do you need a 32A supply? What equipment are you running? If you could post what equipment and what wattage it is rated for you maybe surprised.

Read his first post that it his catering unit so you would be looking at something like a hotplate, fryer, fridge as a minimum.

That's the thing, is the hot plate/fryer electric or gas? Is there a Burco boiler or thee? Electric grills? 15,000W of area lighting? If we had an idea of what was being run from the catering unit then other options maybe available. i.e. Running one supply for some items using the catering units own system and blanking off any outlets to prevent other stuff from being plugged in and another supply using C-form extensions to run other items.

Interesting topic I take its a caravan park with double 16a commando socket outlets rcd protected.
seems your question has two answers if you wire two leads from your 32a socket & put 16a plugs on each lead & plug them in then yes in theory you will have 32a supply. though you would need to be sure that both outlets were supplied from the same phase as often diffrent phases are used to balance the load. though this would make itself apparent when you switch on ( Bang ) !!! 400v ph to ph second answer is it safe obviously not as should one of the 16a plugs be removed while the other remained plugged in you would have a loose plug with live pins Health & safety issue so would it work yes . should you do it . ??? :81:
