Recently completed National Certificate Electrical/Electronics Engineering. Its a 2 year course that companies send their apprentice engineers on. I was made redundant from my site management job and fancied a career change for a while anyway so enrolled and completed the course in a year. Since completing the course it's incredibly difficult to get a sniff of work anywhere. I'm not expecting a great wage, just a start somewhere would be fantastic, where I can work with experienced lads and be trained on the job.

Would really appreciate any advice on my next steps.. where to apply, what jobs to apply for etc. I'm living in London now, moved from Newcastle thinking there'd be more work here.

Idea's please??

Dan.

To be honest mate I'll take anything that I can get. When I enrolled onto the course I was thinking towards motors, or fibre optics. Because this is a whole new career to me I have to be open to idea's. I don't want to go back to site management. I want to give this a go, but one of the most frustrating things is that companies generally only take on young apprentices and theres no spaces for trainees. I'm not old at 28 but I'm not 17 either.

The course that I just completed covered three phase systems, motors and drives, electronic devices and circuits, digital and analogue electronics. Its a broad course to open up choices for further progression.

I'm slowly becoming a bit lost on where my next step is. I've applied for fitter's mate work but so far nothing. Then electrical improver jobs all need their C&G already along with experience so thats no good for me.

If you have any idea's I'm all ears mate. Cheers.

Its hard to say mate without C&Gs certs.Maybe you could offer your services free to a local sparky and see what comes of it and you could see if it is what you want to do_Only option is,the fast trak courses that will make you competent as a domestic installer.Sorry i couldn't be of more help.
