Can anyone recommend a good Cctv system | on ElectriciansForums

Discuss Can anyone recommend a good Cctv system in the Security Alarms, Door Entry and CCTV (Public) area at ElectriciansForums.net

Personally id go for one of the many hundreds of ip cameras you connect to your router then access via app when it alerts you to movement or changes etc or you want to view it. Lots of them have cloud services to store x days worth of filming. Far too many to list. Id only go for normal cctv systems if you have a large number of areas to cover and then id probably go power over ethernet to run them. It avoids the need for electrical power points at the camera.

I agree with the poster above re: IP cams, but I'd spend more and buy a POE Network Video Recorder to hook the cameras up to. You can still do all the motion alert stuff with the better NVR's but you have locally stored high quality video to review/give as evidence if anything happens. What's your budget?

Dahua and Hikvision are popular value for money brands. With many camera and NVR quality options. It all depends on the budget.

I have a swanview system ........... can't remember the number but to set up the access etc on my mobile & ipad all I had to do was scan a QR code in the box!

Agree with Fleetwood - Dahua/Hikvision are well worth a look, both for cameras and NVR. Good VFM.

I have a Hikvision NVR and cameras at home works well, most of the IP cameras will want you or will get you for a monthly fee recording on the web like the Netgear and Ring stuff.

I have an unused NVR for sale and a couple of cameras that I need to list.

If you a great product backed up by excellent service go for X Vision.
UK make. Top cameras. I have installed several systems, much more friendlier than Hik Vision in my opinion.

Have you also looked at Foss Cam?

Hikvision has an issue at the moment as the Plug In for various browsers isn't working so you need to access the NVR/DVR directly form the console.
