Can connection plate be replaced by plug socket

Hi,

I’ve been living in a “new built” house for the last five years and the time to replace some of the built-in appliances has come.

My dishwasher and washing mashine are connected to the grid via connection plates similar to those, although I’m not aware of their exact technical parameters -

The wires from those connection plates then go into something like this kitchen multi gang switch -

My question is if it would be a good idea, in terms of safety mainly, to replace the connection plates with plug sockets? The connection plate from the link has a 25A fuse, while plug sockets come with 13A. Would this be a problem?

If replacement is possible, would it be better to use one with or without switch?

I haven’t checked the oven, but I assume the same approach has been adopted there. Is the above replacement applicable there too?

P.S. The connection plates are located behind the appliances, which are under kitchen top, but not directly under the sink.

I’ve spoken to AO customer service and they assured me the guarantee will be void, but nevertheless I prefer it void than introducing dodgy practices in my house (in terms of electricity of course)

I would like to see their legal standing on this one.

Also, many of the appliances that are sold by AO have details in their instruction manuals showing how to replace the mains plug if required.

I suspect they are confusing warranty with your right to return within 14 days.

If you were to remove the plug and then damage it through incorrect connection, I suspect you'd be goosed.

Making a correct final connection to an appliance via an outlet plate, with supply fused down to the manufacturers specification, should absolutely not void the warranty. I have done so on many occasions and would vigourously contest any withdrawal of warranty cover for doing so.

That said I rarely do it these days, sockets in adjacent units mean that I don't have to go back once appliances pitch up, and fitters can just whack them in and plug away.

Cut the plug off and wire as before into the flex outlet plate anyway the appliance will stop working a day after the warranty runs out anyway.
