Hello,

Recently moved into a new place and discovered this plastic tubing covering wires, I've never seen this in my life and have no idea why it has been done like this. In my opinion it looks ----ing awful. The tubing runs vertically up the wall and then goes horizontally across the wall just below the ceiling. I need to know the following:

1) Can an electrician put the wires in the wall? If so do they generally avoid these types of jobs.

2) How much should I roughly expect to pay for this work to be done.

Being brick it would certainly make it easier to chase it in, there are a number of reasons people may choose surface trunked wiring which could be down to cost but also the minimal mess involved, with chasing in you have the disruption, dust replastering and redecoration to factor in which some people find it hard to cope with

That does not look like plaster or Render, be careful this is not an Airey concrete constructed house that has been brick clad, the concrete could be structural, most of the Airey constructed house's where council owned, if yours was I would strongly suggest getting a survey carried out by a competent Structural Engineer before cutting into the concrete skin.
