Discuss Can Two Dwellings (Upstairs+Downstairs flat) Share PME Main Earth? in the Electrical Wiring, Theories and Regulations area at ElectriciansForums.net

Last Call!

Anyone ever done it, or know if, a single PME supply is ok to supply two separate dwellings - an upstairs and a downstairs flat in one house. The main earth would be split in an earth block. The meters, c/u's and mains intake are accessible to both flats in an entrance hall.

Desperate to know!

Cheers.

Hi Wirepuller.

No the main earths go from the rods to the c/u's. There's no MET connected to that mains head. I've been told that the DNO's often try to provide some form of earthing to the mains sheath via the braiding. How, in this case i don't see how. But it's definitely TT, There's a Zs hovering around the 7 ohm mark.

Apart from that ...... has anyone ever done two flats from one PME main earthing conductor?

No I havent, but I go back to my first post....there is effectively a single source of supply for both flats....the one head, therefore IMO one PME can serve both flats.
