Double insulated cable, 2nd layer is fibre( see attachment) I am working with a more experienced domestic Electrician today. The upstairs lighting circuit is wired in singles in the above cable. It is a neat job but no containment. My experience is almost all industrial. Is this acceptable? He reckons that as it was acceptable when the job was done we should just leave it. Our work is only to change the light fittings. Sorry for the long winded message and thanks for any replies, sensible or otherwise?

No way the circuit is wired in that cable . Check in the ceiling for a joint . betting its been added in to change a light fitting .
It was wired in intricate straight lines with each downstairs light wired in this stuff. 1 x Twin and earth to a jb then remainder of lighting in the oven cable. Weird...... Guy must have been tapped. He has a ring wired in artic cable in the loft for outside floodlighting??? Used a 6 mm from what is marjed as a shower in the consumer unit then put in a lollipop. Apparently he worked at the local power station which must be where all the material has come from

At least he didn't use one of their 33kV transformers to step up the feed to the shed.
