I just looked at the IET forum and saw this inspired thinking, so I nicked it for ours :smug:

The question was "Why do capacitors block DC but lets AC pass through it"?

So does that mean capacitors block 2 out of 3 phases?

Oh edit that, of course 1 of the other phases will get up thro the bottom of the "gate".
