hi guys i a hve a job to do in a house which requires me putting in smoke alarms which is ok but the customer wants me to put in carbon monoxide alarms in the house too. i have never done these before and am not sure what rooms to put them in too as he said i can put the alarms where ever i think needs them. are these alarms inter linkable and also can you get a detecctor that will operate in different fault conditions

The carbon monoxide detector would go in the vacinity of the boiler - I'd put it above and slightly to the front of the boiler. I know how important these things are, as I had a nasty experience with carbon monoxide when I was a teenager. The headache that I had was like no pain you could ever imagine, combined with being drunk.

I would put them anywhere that they have a gas or fuel-burning appliance.

Have a read of this: Aico Ltd

Make sure that it will be heard by the people in the house ie if gas appliance is in the garage then it wouldn't be heard by anyone in other parts of the house. Also Aico smokies and carbon monoxide detectors are interlinkable which I think is a very good way to go.

They are the best as a domestic product, we use nothing else and probably fit a few hundred a year without problems.

Have you ever read the manufacturers instructions on where to place them? (Probably a stupid question since this is a sparks forum :D)

It seems they want you to place it everywhere but nowhere. Trying to cover themselves I suspect. As has been said as close to the gas/oil burner appliance as possible but give regard that people in the premises should be able to hear it.

it needs to be 300mm from wall, however they can be mounted on the wall, but as of last year any burning device fitted in a room needs one, you can interconnect same as smokes, regs are all same as smokes
