Hey guys. My DIY adventures have taken me to a place where I'd like to learn a little more about electrical wiring and safety so that I may be competent at basic household wiring installations. I hope you don't mind me lurking around.
Hello @handieman,
Depending on what you mean by being competent. If you mean going route from DIYer to NICEIC/NAPIT competent Domestic Installer, it might be long and very expensive journey to get there.
I'm an active DIY'er, holding a degree in Electrical Engineering, who wanted to be recognised "competent" in terms of competent person schemes and I found it easier to get PhD in Electrical Engineering than following the official route to achieve NVQ L3, required to become Domestic Installer.
Whichever definition of being competent you've chosen, I wish you good luck!
