Had to cable some cat 6 cabling, while putting in ours, usual thing.
Just use what you have, which was external cat 6.
Can you 2nd fix them too.
Bit of a nightmare really, with my glasses on it was hard to see connections, also in awkward places to connect.
Also the quality of these data points can be pretty rubbish, tip ,buy the best, with cable tie & deeper connection.
Did it all, then one didn’t get internet,it was the one in the middle of a cupboard, awkward or what, all working now.
Is it that when electricians do this sort of work do we get a bit panicky.
The unknown ?

Still happens now, not many of us who can still do it.
And electricians think they have a hard life........ nothing worse than dealing with a dodgy Krone frame earning decent money the bonus being the subsidised restaurant and the office errrr can't get banned, full of various fit not fit fat slim non slim obese transgendered transexual lesbian non lesbian rug munchers oh I nearly forgot straight people but then again the disabled crooked people may be offended.........

It is Friday, I am also not ignoring Thursday......

Some nice tools there, I use a Peak tester with a load of the numbered terminators for quick testing. We hire in a proper analyser if the client requires certificates for the installation as the £40,000 price tag is a bit much for the small amount we do.
A Peak tester won't interrogate the switch too see what port the cable is coming from, does it show if a fault is on the run and the distance from the tester the fault is at?

Did a load of work on a security network upgrade 802.1X authentication on a payment network for a gambling corporation.

Oh certainly not! It is for basic testing/fault finding of wiring not connected to any equipment. It does provide detailed information of miswiring such as a core not connected or any wires that are crossed/shorted. But not the distance of a fault.

So a 9V battery and a buzzer would do the same........ ;o)))))

One thing I have learned with Cat6 is: make sure your RJ45s are also Cat6. You'll have a (very) hard time if they're not.

It is not a sparks job is it. Best left to the experts as is aerial cabling.

Aye, you take that road. Those of us that do it will find we can charge more for that 'specialist' work. It's copper, it carries electricity, it needs terminating, who else's job can it be?

Fibre? That's a different kettle of fish, but you can run it like you do cable, just be aware of minimum radii for bends, and don't use hammer-in cable clips. Until I learn to terminate it I'll have to leave that to the £400/day guy, who incidentally is a sparky who learned how to do it.

There's a thread about specialisms/specialisation, and which is most lucrative, you just need to be creative and keep as many skills as you can to hand.
