That really is a road to nowhere!!

It doesn't do anyone any favours - except maybe the customer.

What is needed is for all the sparks in the area to agree on what is a fair price & stick to it

That said, You may as well chuck jelly up a ladder !! :90:

It wont happen in this area at all!

No one will pay anymore for starters.

I am new to the game at the moment and making £130 from 1 days worth of work suits me fine to be honest.

All around me is full of council, private landlords and housing associations houses

Cant get a council contract as the local council has set up an external company with all their electricians and that company goes for the contracts and wins every year - been like that for last 3 years and it wont change as the company is registered under an ex (but still working for) council employee - still got an office in the council building.

Housing association has their own electricians and because they are privately owned they wont outsource.

Private Landlords are so tight they wont do anything that's needed as all tenants are on benefits or contractors for the local power plant, oil refinery.

I have secured a few contracts already with a few agents so that should keep me busy Im hoping.

Im just trying my luck with the hotels now, but they are all like we will do it when it needs it and not before and forget PAT Testing.

Care homes are next on the list!

The problem as well as the above is there are 20 electrical contractors/companies all serving the same area.

2 of these are big companies with 6+ Electricians

well, i've just quoted £300 for a 10 way dual RCD board with a known problem of an existing fault causing the old MCB on the RFC to trip frequently. guy snapped my hand off as he had just been quoted £670 + fixing the fault as additional.

£670 - cripes - did he say who by???

yes he did. can't mention the name, but they are a fairly well known company round here, niceic, with quite a few sparks on the books. the original job was passed to them by a well known, tv advertised home maintenance company. and it is a very basic board. 4 circuits with a separate RCD/MCB in enclosure for shower.
