Hi all, wondering if i could get something cleared up.
I have issued a Eicr for a property and issued a list of C1,c2,c3's
Now on the cert i classed the installation as unacceptable.
Have now completed the works and issued a minor works for any necessary certifiable remedials but not all the Coded findings.
Then landlord has asked for a revised Eicr with the installation now to be classed as acceptable to be issued.
Is this a standard requirement by the landlord or should the minor works have all the remedials stated and cover the installation that way ?

Im happy to re write the eicr out but just wanted clarification.

Many thanks

The MEIWCs that you have issued certify that the installation work complies with the Wiring Regulations, so would obviously make the relevant non-compliances now Satisfactory.

You shouldn't really re-issue an altered EICR as these were not the findings when it was conducted.

Write a cover letter with the MEIWCs if you like highlighting that whatever defects have been addressed and are not longer defects!

That's what I do Damian, if the client gets me to put right the code 1/2s, then I just reissue the EICR.
I do my certification digitally so there is no need to rewrite it, just 'save as' and alter the relevant info.

Don't know if that's standard though.

That is incorrect, you should be issuing an appropriate certificate for the remedial work carried out.
The completion of periodic testing and issuing of an EICR is a single job in itself and once that EICR has been signed by you it should remain unchanged.

Hi Andy, thanks so you would just re issue a revised eicr with classification acceptable?

Well that's what I do, others will not.
The client or their insurance company want to see a report with 'satisfactory' on it.

Mind you with the size of the reports now I might think differently if I had to write another by hand.

That is not incorrect Dave, I do issue certificates for any remedial work, and I certainly do not change a report once completed and signed. If you read my post I 'save as' and this opens a new certificate with a new number but filled out as the last. I edit this and issue that with the other certificates.

It doesn't matter what they want to see, the regulations are pretty simple as to how things are done.
An EICR is a report on the condition of an installation at the time it is carried out.
If they want a second report a few weeks later then they can pay for a second report to be carried out.

Fine Dave, you charge twice if you want to, I'm happy with what I do and so are my customers.

So Andy you are basically issuing another cert for free and no carrying out another EICR as you have completed the works and are of sound mind the installation is no different from the time you completed the works . i.e. still vacant awaiting new tennant?

Not free Damian, I do charge for my time only I do not repeat every test that I would of carried out a few days earlier.
