changes in electrical trade in ireland

hello all
im in southern ireland and have been in the electrical trade for the last forty years almost and was registered with ecssa up to about five years ago when i changed jobs to another field i was going to go back but now find the goalposts are changed and the governing body are looking for fetac level 6 im told senior trades are only equivelent to fetac level 4 so im presuming they wont allow me in how can this be if i was able to preform work safely for the previous 40 years is this an age discrimination issue

Have you spoken to RECI (now the only Electrical SSB) to confirm this?

ive tried but it doesnt seem to be possible to get anyone who knows anything and they were always a horrible bunch to deal with anyway whereas ecssa were gentlemen and women and were there to help not hinder like reci all reci say is go to website its quite frustrating to be unable to work at what youve done all your life because you quit it for a few years if id stayed registered this couldnt have happened as all my former colleagues just marched straight into the new regime and alot of them had less qualifications than me

I've only ever been with RECI and can't honestly say that I've ever had any problems with them. I'm not aware of qualifications requirements having changed, but as I said the best thing would be to ask them.

Think youve been told wrong.
All I have is the senior trades too. And to be honest i would take it anyday over the crap they have now.

Did you ever apply for your national craft cert?
