Just turned up to complete a second fix of a rewire and for the first fix used a batch of back boxes i had in stock i got from a screwfix clearance for pennys...

Anyway... There was 20 in total. All installed and then the plaster had been in and dot and dabbed.. All good.. Untill I came today to do second fix and every back box when i went to screw the facias back the lugs came off. When i looked they were all the same nothing keeping the lug from coming loose..

Moral of the story you get what you pay for.... For saving less than ÂŁ10 has cost a lot more in time and diesel..

Anyone else got horror stories with cheap gear ?

Bought a pack of plastic capping from screwfix, every single nail i used cracked right through the capping, made a right mess and added hours to job as in the end I drilled and screwed most of it up.

I think we've all been in that position at one time or another mate. My wake up call came when I bought a load of cheap GET double sockets, they installed OK, but over a period of months the screws sheared and/or the back of switch mechanisms cracked, so many call backs for switching or socket faults it made me quite dizzy!
