Not got account with them, maybe thats the difference. Cheepest MK doubles a can get are at B&Q
10 FOR £32 including VAT. Find Screwfix dearer than B&Q.

yes account helps ,, and buying bucket loads of mk helps too ,, they try and give you chep prices on certain items then bump up others to ofset loss on cheap items,, u just have to keep an eye out

Wouldn't call it designer, but white MK accessories throughout would be my preference, CU I prefer Merlin.

of course if dosh wasn't an issue then we would all use merlin or mk, no doubt, but we are talking a quarter of the price and it still does the same job, i want to be convinced to lose jobs over using designer goods.

Went to an office install to do a test on a new office refurb that guy had not certified, and one of my guys looked around and said, the switches and sockets looked dog rough, why would you spent alot of money on cable trunking and lights etc and then put on cheap accessories to save a few quid.

What i cant understand is that if you installed 10 sockets (lets say £550) you then put 10 cheap fronts on and save £15.00 id rather rather swallow the £15 off of my profit so i can look at the job and think that looks good.

I cringe at bad finishes ,,

Unless the customer either asks for something specific brandwise/lookswise orwants to be particularly stingy with the cash in which case i will offer Marbo (screwfix) but explain that there is no warranty given on those accessories and they soon change their mind.

all depends on what the customer will pay for they have two options when i do the job, cheap access or more expensive ones. 50/50 on what they go for. mine at home are all better quality. remote lights etc.

Reading this now I sound like a t****r saying 'convince me' but what I meant was, we have to account for materials when pricing, so if they are cheaper, then either our price can be less or we can make more cash. Though I do agree with you Eddie in some circumstances it is worth while to stand the extra, I suppose it depends on the job and whats been agreed with customer, but I was generally talking domestic, where (normally) there are no specifications on brand names.
