I'm with checkatrade, they've been OK, plenty of leads. Little jobs here and there, no big rewires or anything worth more than £1k, but that suites me.
I pay £36 inc. a month just to be with them and then £64.80 inc. for leads.
They have messaged me to tell me I'm on limited visibility because I've used all my leads for the period (the year's membership period by the looks of it). I can upgrade to get more leads or wait until the next year (there are 251 days left!).
It looks to me like they are just trying to push an upgrade, more money for them. I think it's taking the mick really, they only push low-value leads, and a lot of them are pretty pore (timewasters or people who don't even respond).

Has anyone else had the same issue lately with Checkatrade?

Is anyone using any of the other lead generation sites willing to share their experience/advice? Perhaps give some details on costs and the number/quality of leads etc.

wow, you pay them £1200 per year to give you leads
in about 110 days you have used up all the leads that you have paid for all year.

I would invest in 1000 business cards and leave 5 or 10 at each place I had done a job.

If you are good at what you do and honest with the customers then word of mouth should keep you in work forever.

tell check-a-prat to go do one!!

I posted because this is a change to the way they've been doing things. I wonder if anyone else has had the same.
I've focused on getting reviews, I haven't been leaving business cards, but will do that from now on.
I am honest and upfront, I do a good job and explain what I'm doing and why. I came back to the trade in October 23, and had a slow start, so I joined Checkatrade to get leads, and now regularly get repeat business, referrals and cold calls, but the leads still generate a lot of my work.
