Last weekend I went Chestnut picking. They are different to conkers. The outside of the casing is extremely prickly, where conkers are not https://www.wherewhywhen.com/how-can-i-tell-the-difference-between-a-chestnut-and-a-conker/

This is the time to fill carrier bags full of them.
And they freeze so they'll keep until next year.

The best ones though are at the top, and though this isn't a chestnut tree, the ones coming in from the left and right of this tree are!

I took my mrs chestnut picking / foraging last year as she’d never done it before. We filled bagfuls and she enjoyed it.

We always did it as kids with my dad, I thought it was something everyone did.
