Oops, wrong thread.
But as Marvo said, just walk away if you havnt the experience, I walked away from a kebab shop that was tripping out, and found one of the 40 amp circuits was going to the Indian take aways next door, both rented from the same landlord. And both spoke less English than a 3 year old child, neither wanted me to investigate further,I only popped in to get a bit of grub, and as soon as they saw a vda screwdriver in my pocket, they wanted me to take a look at the voodoo electrics they had going on.
sometimes you can be in the wrong place at the wrong time. I suggested the power be turned off, which didn't go down to well. And to speak to the landlord.
I had a maccy D's after, but my conscious played hell with me.
I was out of my depth
Gn3 was didn't tell about this lol

As advised I ran away. They wanted me to connect a three phase fryer to a greasy 6.0mm twin that also ran to another couple of machines before entering an isolator at the other side of the kitchen. Haha :-/

From my experience as soon as you enter the Chinese restaurant it falls outside the reach of the BS7671 and usually runs to regulations often found as the basis of a shanty town, its a quirk of time and space that means the inside of the building dosn't actually exist within the confines of british soil....

This can often be seen to have strange effects on anyone who enters the building having a strong urge to develope a Chinese accent.... beer will often weaken your resistance to these urges but as long as you don't spend too long in the building the effects normally wear off within half a hour after exiting.

Well it works , don't it?

Sadly this is all to common and despite well intentioned advice and explanation and the ever present language barrier real or affected you are well and truely up against it to make any difference to the safety of this type of establishment, and on the other hand I look after a few retail shops owned and run by non immigrant people who are constantly being visited by HSE and EH officers with the latest requirements that they MUST implement immediatley on pain of being shut down, fined etc the latest is that they must not use fairy or any other washing up liquid that is not on the approved detergents list, can you imagine them trying to explain that to the local curry shop proprietors lert alone pursuing it to the point of a prohibitation notice ? No neither do I

Trust me ive ventured into 3 takeaways to help out and what i see is sickly ... i grassed 2 up ...not right when u see rat crap on the prep tables and no hot water or adequate toilet facilities .... sometimes u have to just shop them in to the H&S

Problem is if you bring them up to health and safety code the food wouldn't taste as good.

Seen far worse Indian curry houses than i have Chinese restaurants, both in the UK and overseas. Both of them, need constant visiting watchful eyes by local authority departments to keep standards of health and hygiene to any reasonable levels!!

At least you know your getting Dog over there many questions are been asked of our takeaways over here as the Ham topping has been found not to be ham in 9/10 takeaways in some cities...

Responses of been against there religion to handle ham is no longer cutting it as they have been instructed that it must contain Ham if so advertised and given ham topped pizza is the nations favourite it has left alot of takeaways in a very awkward position but to be honest i think the authorities are right .. .. if a food product is against your beliefs to handle or make then dont bloody make it to start with as appose to cheating the customer with flavoured chicken etc.... its a danger to those who have intolerances to certain foods.

As usual the response from said takeaways is the authorities are not taking their religious beliefs into consideration..... Ill end this post here before i express my views and im not a racist in any way just believe its time that we stopped tip-toeing around a certain belief and ensure that the same laws we all have to obey is implemented in full across the board regardless of religion!:rant:

Nah ill say what you dont want to **** religion sone people are allergic and they shouldnt be misselling it because it can kill them.

Religion has nothing to do with it, it's about maximising profit

Yes Shanks initially religion had nothing to do with it but by the nature of the issue it has now become a very tender point as as a large proportion of pizza sales from takeaways is from curry shops as part of a full range menu..

A large number of takeaways have been officially warned and have stopped the scam meat trade but a stink is been kicked up by those owners who have been put in a position where they will either have to stop selling ham topped pizza's (the nations biggest seller) or handle a product their religion won't let them do... Catch 22 ... my point was - the law was already there about making false claims on the actual content and they have gone into the business of selling it through a lie and when they are caught they complain its against their beliefs and the authorities should take this into account..... leaving my exiting point that the Law applies across the board regardless they knew they were breaking the law so accept it and stop selling it if it offends them.

You're more likely to see Korean restaurants dishing up Dog than the Chinese!! lol!!

Think anyone ordering a Pizza from a curry house or a Chinese need there head testing, Pizza's are like fish & chips, NEVER but never, buy either from an Asian owned or based outlet! They can't cook them, they just don't taste the same!!

It doesn't comply if they advertise as ham topping .... they are trying to get around it with small print --- grass the up its called false advertising you cant say ive got a 2 bedroom house for sale then in small print at the bottom say the second bedroom is really a cupboard!
