Has anyone used CHINT products are they any good
I have been looking at their RCDs priced at £15.00 for S type 100Ma 80A
RCBOs From £5.00

I agree, I was commenting about the Chints fella, sorry about the crossed post, I carry 2-3 lewden boards on my van at all times actually, £42.00 each if you buy 3 at a time and thats fully loaded, ridiculous, however in saying that I get a 5% failure on the RCDs under tests, usually when testing them the trips won't reset after and they have to go back to the wholesaler, 5% as mentioned, 95% okay though, but in general they are fine for the silly money they cost.

Going by what others have stated here, it seems par for the course for any RCD devices!! At the present time, it doesn't matter too much what manufacturer you use, the failure rates are similar!!

thats because theyre all made at the same factory no matter what brand sticker is on them.
probably at a factory near to your location lol.

I recently investigated the components in some Chinese manufactured control panels. The Chint components were the best quality. CHINT is a huge electrical manufacturing company in China with sales offices around the world including in the UK - in Bury I think. Chint subscribes to ISO 9000. I can't really compare the quality with better known makes such as Hager, but if I had to have Chinese, I'd choose Chint.

But why do you need to buy cheap boards? I've never lost an order because I fitted MK, or Hager. There's only about £30 difference in price!

£30 difference from £55 to £85 is a huge difference. it's 150%.

Yes, I appreciate that, but on the cost of the whole job it's small. I charge £300 for a straightforward CU change (extras cost extra). I make a point of telling the customer what make I'm installing and always ask them to check if my competition is installing any non EEC rubbish.
At least you get good support from EEC based companies and know that they are manufactured and tested to EN standards. Ok, there have been some failures like Wylex MCBs and they had a massive recall and replacement scheme. Would a company like CHINT do the same?
There is also a big problem with Quality Control in Chinese manufacture. I do have more confidence (probably misplaced!) in the QC of components made in China for the likes of MK then Chinese components sold direct.
