Hi guys,

I have just received a job offer that is self employed to start monday. I am looking for some advice on what i need to do to regster for the cis scheme.

Any advice is much appreciated

When i went self employed for the first time this year, the guy on the phone at HMRC asked what my profession is. When i told him I'm an Electricians Mate, he said 'oh ok, i'll set you up under the CIS scheme then'. Was simple as that!

You will be issued with a UTR number(unique tax reference number),expect to wait a few weeks,some times quicker,and the firm will tax you 30% unless you have your UTR,20% tax usually,keep all your business receipts,fuel,tools,everything to do with business,you will need to set up for NICs class 2 are £2.50 a week or something like that.
