All my work is away from home so all hotels food coffee is paid for on my company card as I wouldn't be there if I wasn't on business. Mileage allowance 40/26p / mile. All computer office stuff as well. I also keep receipts for small business bits that I pay cash for throughout the year as a little Xmas bonus.

Just to let you know VOLTZ I've flagged your posts to the administrators of the site. This is a friendly forum, if you want to start arguments and try to make people look silly because of typos there are plenty of other so-called electricians forums in which your behaviour will be welcomed.

Its not worth trying to fiddle the tax system. YOU WILL NOT WIN. Yes we all take a bit of cash here and there, HMRC are far from stupid and knows this goes on. I declared more cash transactions last year then cheques, i also got a nice rebate, the reason for this is because i am honest, i even declared some cash which didnt go through the account. Why, you are wondering, well, if you need to apply for finance for anything like mortgage, loans etc, then you will have to prove your income. It is no good saying to the bank manager, well as well as the 30 grand i have declared i also got 10 grand in cash which i havent declared. Another good reason, if you get investigated by her majestys finest they will go through your income and expenditure with something finer than a fine toothcomb. They will want to know how you have paid for everything right down to the cream for your piles. If you can't prove how and where the money came from, then you are deeper s*** than you could imagine. They will sort it out, and then assess the amount that you owe them, back calculate it for about 5 years, and give you as long as it takes to get to the cashpoint and back to pay it to them. If you mess with VAT, they wont even do that, its go to jail, do not pass go and do not collect your £200 so to speak.

The other reason that i am honest. I am wise enough to know that i have to pay tax, so i pay it. I sleep soundly, and HMRC can come and look at what they want whenever they want, i have no fear.

Cheers.......Howard
